Mixtapes
This page is where I’ll put all my cool artwork.
I may have to make another page at this rate…I’ve got sixteen mixes altogether, with two more in progress, and I don’t think this page could load sixteen youtube playlists and tables all in one go. Also, you’ll notice that while all the links are up, videos and descriptions are missing for most mixes. Patience, they’re coming along slowly.

During the summer just before moving to Bellingham, my parents had me doing all these silly odd jobs for them. It was pretty awful, and my friends were all away at school. I had just discovered Renard (I link to his music a lot) and this mix was practically all I listened to while cleaning windows, mowing the lawn, etc. It’s pretty invigorating and motivating. All songs are by Renard or his aliases, though there’s ludicrous amounts of sampling so yeah. A couple songs couldn’t be found on YouTube, so I left them off the list here. Also, disclaimer: there’s some disturbing album covers in the videos and cursing, just a heads up. Favourite tracks: Great Expectations, Homosexual Love Scene, River Valley, Dear Spark.

Perhaps the most complex, thought-out mix I’ve made, and definitely my best. There’s a whole story behind this one, but I’m not telling! It basically revolves around a failed marriage and a love affair somehow tangled with the extended metaphor of an atlas. Yup. I’m not even gonna bother. If you want to read the story you can find it in the link, but it’s missing a hundred disclaimers. First mix featuring the Fleet Foxes and Coldplay, wooh! Favourite tracks: Blue Ridge Mountains, Maps, O.N.E., Fluid.

My second mix. This came about when I realized holy shit I love making mixes, time to make a bajillion of these. I had too much content, and decided I’d do a whole set of mixes based on thematic colours. Why was this one blue? Because it’s the most depressing. I wanted to get the sad songs out of the way early, because I was afraid I’d get to the last buncha songs and they’d all be super depressing and nobody would like listening to the mix. Hooray…I bet now you’re just so excited to listen to this one! Seattle Blue, because that’s the colour of this mix. Graphite, washed-out blue. Once again, some edits by me that don’t exist on YouTube. Favourite tracks: Going to California, Sleeping Lessons, Changeless, Blue Skies.

This is my very first mix ever. You can probably tell…lots of oldies and video game music. (When my brother and I were younger we had oldies radio on 24/7. Yes, even while we slept. I can sing along with oldies sometimes better than my parents.) A novelty is it’s almost exacltly 80 minutes, the perfect length to fit on a disc. I was a little OCD about stuff like that, I mean, why waste any data when it could have music instead? I’ve often thought about changing aspects of this one but I think it’s a pretty accurate representation of what I was into at the time. And it’s got plenty of kicking jams, even if there’s little to no cohesion. Favourite tracks: 1-2-3, Wonderboy, Things I’d Like to Say, Starry Moonlit Night ~Arrange~
